Artist's Statement:

My goal is for expression and design to be interwoven with color and rhythm. I am the happiest when outside, so painting in "Plein Air" is a natural blending of self and artistic medium. Color and paint application excite me. In Plein Air painting the effects of light and color are both intense and evasive and each scene offers a unique challenge. Each painting is a journey for me; it records not only the place itself but also sense of feel. The warmth of the day, the smell of the grasses and trees, the painting becomes the essence of my responses to the subject. I love the interplay of color and truth with imagination and expression. I have a saying printed on my easel "Begin with the end in mind". I love to take what I see and make it my own. I work to keep the information in my subject direct yet beautiful and I want the viewer to have his own journey of interpretation. I strive to give each painting a life of its own and try always to be true to my artistic vision.
